What was helpful in gathering our sampling of company history is many people combined to take several thousand photos (and some video) over the past several decades. Beth Souther and Janice Ryer in Atlanta, Cara Sao Bento in NY, Suzanne Judd in Princeton and many others kept those images on file to preserve the history without knowing how they might ever be used; they just recognized it was important to keep them. Emily Ford who has overseen our Atlanta office for many years rescued and properly stored the old photos from the 1960s, and along with John Lyons, Linda Broadrick, and Debi Robinson helped keep the material consolidated in a couple of cabinets so the recent task of publishing was one of going through what was there.
As for the Observers, again many people put a lot of energy in this over time. It is a great credit to Beth Souther, Janice Ryer, and later Pam Beckerman that it ran for so long with a lot of prodding, follow up, and very hard work. But you have to recognize Mary Baach and Joe Scheines who drove this in the early years to make it the established and interesting company publication it was.
There are a couple of videos that Bill Beckemeyer made in the 1990s at transition/retirement celebrations that captured images and conversations with many of the iconic names from our history. We are still working on a way to make these available to the alumni group.
